Poul Henningsen PH Artichoke Suspension Lamp Louis Poulsen

Details

The PH Artichoke Suspension Lamp was created by Poul Henningsen for the design label Louis Poulsen.

The label started producing lighting in Denmark over a hundred years ago but is always contemporary in its innovative use of modern materials and eco-friendly technology.

Danish-born Poul Henningsen started designing functionalistic architecture in the early 20th-century but changed his focus to lighting, the area he became most well known for.

His lifelong collaboration with Louis Poulsen was a huge influence on the company’s development and success.

The PH Artichoke Suspension Lamp was originally designed in 1958 for a Copenhagen restaurant where it can still be seen today.

It looks just as contemporary now as it did 60 years ago and remains one of the label’s most popular classic lines. It emits a soft-diffuse light through 72 precisely positioned metal leaves, supported by a height-adjustable mount made of chrome-plated stainless steel.

The leaves are arranged to give glare-free light from any angle and this decorative lamp suits any room of the home as well as public spaces. T
